Brandon Mews barrel vaulted roof

Brandon Mews is part of the residential section in the Barbican Estate, City of London, overlooking the water garden. Its 26 houses are topped with a series of barrel-vaulted roofs seen here.

These roofs were added in 1987 as part of remedial works to solve water leak problems. The original Chamberlin, Powell & Bon design featured pitched 'wigwam' roofs.

In the background beyond the Barbican can be seen two modern buildings: The Heron (left) and CityPoint (right).
