mosaic decoration in Palatine chapel, Palermo

The Palatine Chapel is the royal chapel of the Norman kings of Sicily and is part of the Palazzo dei Normanni. It was commissioned by King Roger II of Sicily in 1132 and was completed in 1140.

It is decorated with mosaics, many depicting the Acts of the Apostles. On the wall in this picture are scenes from the life of St Peter.

Above the central column is a mosaic of St Ambrosius.
