interior of Roman watershed

Watershed ('castellum aquae' in Latin) in the ruined Roman city of Pompeii. The watershed is located at the higher end of the city and would have supplied water for the city. In the foreground of this picture is a water guide which would have split the flow into three parts to feed into three separate aqueducts leading down into the city.
