Incy Wincy Spider

Latin name: Araneus diadematus

Size: Females up to 13mms, males up to 8mms - this one was a big girl!

Distribution: Found throughout the UK.

Months seen: June to October.

Habitat: Found in hedgerows, woodlands and gardens.

Food: Mostly flying insects.

Special features: Seen mostly in September and October, when the females sit, upside-down in the centre of their large, circular webs in trees and hedges.
