Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief ministry dedicated a new Training, Equipment and Mobilization Center on October 21, 2017. These are images from that ceremony.

The Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief ministry began in 1973 during flooding in north central Oklahoma. Nine inches of rain fell in a two hour period around Enid, which was awash. Oklahoma Baptist raised over $25,000 for those impacted by the flooding, but an organized response was determined to be necessary to meet future disaster needs. On December 11, 1973, the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma (BGCO) approved a plan for a Disaster Relief ministry.

From those humble beginnings of providing financial support and hot meals, God has blessed Oklahoma Baptists' disaster relief efforts. Now Oklahoma Baptists provide help through child care, feeding laundry & shower, water purification, ash-out, debris removal, mud-out and chainsaw teams. More than 8,000 Oklahoma Baptists have been trained in Disaster relief.

Oklahoma Baptists have responded to nearly 200 disaster events in 27 states and 18 foreign nations and have prepared over 4.9 million meals. Whenever Oklahoma Baptists respond, they provide hope, help and healing in the name of Jesus to those impacted by disaster
