Situated against the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the Great Sand Dunes form a 30 square mile deposit of sand that has formed by dunes due to the unique geological formation in this location.
The tiny specks on some of the images are people climbing the dunes. In some cases, you must look *very* carefully.
