2016 Disaster Relief - Disney, Oklahoma (Grand Lake)

Our Southern Baptist state disaster relief ministry spent several days in Disney, Oklahoma (Pensacola Dam at Grand Lake of the Cherokees). Flooding in December 2015 impacted quite a few homes downstream of the dam. This team as well as others sought to assist the homeowners in clearing the damage from their homes so rebuilding / remodeling can begin. We cleared the structure, cut sheet rock that had gotten wet, pulled flooring and then sprayed the remainder of the house with a fungicide to kill mold. Ours was the last team and after finishing up we had a half day to sightsee in the area. We spent our time touring the Pensacola Dam. The dam is 5,145 feet and 150 feet high and houses an hydroelectric plant. The lake covers 46,500 acres.
