British Heritage in an American Independence Day

52 Weeks of Pix 2012 - Week 27

Theme: Patriotism

In spite of independence, there are elements of British heritage many Americans hold dear. Like Bag Pipes! Gotta love the pipes. Even had them on the USS Enterprise (as in Starship Enterprise). And the AC Cobra. What red-blooded American wouldn't give a week's wages to get behind the wheel of one of these Carol Shelby-altered British sports cars.

I suppose I should mention Walker's Shortbreads also, but I've given them up in the interest of better health. Oh what I would give for a fresh Eccles cake! But I digress. And let's not forget Harris Tweed. I have two jackets that are perfect for cool evenings out.

I lived in the UK for a year and a half and truly love the place. May our two countries continue to thrive together based upon historical mutual respect. Anyone have a green apple and cheese on a bap?

A Fourth of July Celebration was held in Bethany, Oklahoma that included a parade. It provided many opportunities to capture images of our Flag.

As is typical of many Fourth of July parades, it included a number of classic cars, marching band and sponsored patriotic floats.

The festival included a carnival as well as craft vendors. All very typical of a normal Fourth of July celebration.
