Joe Strummer
Joe, RIP
Lower East Side
Joe Strummer was my musical hero. For a brief moment in time, The Clash were the greatest band in the world. At their peak (before Topper was kicked out) they were the fiercest, most powerful, most soulful, most committed rock band I've ever seen. Joe was full of contradictions, but was well loved all the same. I'll always remember where I was on December 22, 2002 when I heard the news that Joe had died. Talk about a punch in the gut. More importantly, I'll always remember the first time I saw the Clash at the Lyceum in London. I've never seen a more powerful show and likely never will.
