John Baker established mining clams in 1865 as Silver boom through the 1870"s the RxR extended from Denver to Georgetown past Silver Plume to Graymount. Bakerville at 9787 ft with the Broken Handle mine at 11,201 which was part of the Steven's mine at 11.699 ft. which encompassed over 2700 acres prior to 1900.
