Leiria (Portugal)
A comuna judaica de Leiria, documentada a partir do século XIII, foi crescendo até ao seu apogeu no século XV. Em 1492 instala-se uma das primeiras oficinas de impressão tipográfica em Portugal.
Os judeus Samuel de Orta e os seus três filhos imprimiram vários livros em Leiria, entre os quais várias obras em hebraico.
Em 1496 imprime-se, em castelhano e latim o incunábulo Almanach Perpetuum, do matemático e astrónomo Abraão Zacuto, traduzido e editado por José Vizinho, judeu e físico do rei D. João II.
