Man Ray's early photographs.
Graphic design has been stimulated by progressive photography and one of the most important influences in this was the American photographer Man Ray.
Moholy -Nagy was the only other artist/photographer who made such an important contribution to contemporary graphic design. But there were serious difficulties with materials and equipment, as well as the prejudice of the day that favored artwork created by commercial artists, that had to be surmounted by avant-garde photographers of the 1920's and 30's.
