Henry VIII’s registration of his ‘scruple of conscience’ (1st July 1529) before the legatine court which was convened to consider the legality of his marriage to Katherine of Aragon. According to some reports, including one by contemporary George Cavendish, John Fisher, Bishop of Rochester, protested that his name and seal had been forged on this document.
