Putangirau Pinnacles, mud

You can tell from some of the earlier pics that the stream running down from the pinnacles was very silt-laden. This shot shows that in places, it was almost pure mud, flowing very slowly, in pulses. And the smooth mud on either side? Looks really nice for walking on (as opposed to all the ankle-turning round stones elsewhere), and in some places, it is -- but in other places, such as near where this shot was taken, it's basically still quicksand. It ate Stephen's foot. (He got it back. Obviously.)
