Lakeside Dining
This was my 3rd attempt to photograph Osprey fishing at Topaz lake in the last month. During the previous 2 trips, and the day before this, there were heavy thunderstorms in the area. On this day, we decided to go for it, even with thunderstorms in the area. We got set up on the lake shore with an ez up for shelter. The wind kicked up, blowing over the ez up. The rain started. Then a massive cloud of dust blew up from a nearby newly plowed field (while it was raining - dust storm and rain at the same time) so we retreated to the car until it blew over. After a couple hours, we had a grand total of 2 Osprey flybys, and some Clark's Grebes catching fish pretty close to shore. On the drive home I spied this guy in a lake side tree right next to the highway; flipped a u turn and shot this out the window of the Landcruiser.. I got out thinking I was going to sneak across the highway, using a bush for cover. I then proceeded to slam my thumb in the vehicle door while starting to dash across the highway. Yes, it's still attached, and yes, it hurts like #%&&*%$!
