Spent a few hours looking for Raptors and Kingfishers in the valley north of Sacramento this afternoon, and was not disappointed. This is probably the best photo of a kestrel I've gotten to date. If you've ever tried to photograph these guys, you know that they are super skittish and the small size makes it even harder to get a decent capture. This was caught from inside the car, and is a substantial crop.
