Ring Necked Pheasant in Yolo Bypass Wildlife area this morning. I have seen one of these crossing the road a few times there, but every time I stop to try and shoot them, they are just gone. Even if there is only 4" high grass or one small bush, I can never find the bird. I've even tried kicking that one small bush, but no luck. This one was furtively making his way through a brushy area, spending more time on being careful than anything else. A Kestrel flew about 8 feet over him and he really freaked, which is comical since the Kestrel is 1/3 the size!
