++ The intense chafeing of the dry creative sponge

It's funny that something can frustrate you to the point of kicking and screaming (and swearing really badly), and yet you can't function correctly without it.

I honestly thought I was done with taking photos. When I reached the end of my last 52 Weeks project it felt very much like the creative sponge had been wrung dry of ideas. Then the lack of ... what? Creative frustration I guess? It gets the better of me and I start to question the sponge. I must miss the friction that exists between me, my imaginarium and my camera.

I have an idea, so I take some photos. The end product is almost exactly as seen in my mind - but also a pale imitation. Creative frustration see? With this photo I'm trying to convey a sense of being locked out of your own mind's creative centre and the descent into despair as realisation dawns that you may never flex another creative muscle again in your entire life. I realise I'm doing this by the fairly standard approach of staring sternly into the lens, splitting the image down the centre and doing some dodgy looking fading from one side to another but hey - it's been, like, a month since I played with my camera, gimme a break.

Strobist info

Photo 1 [left]: SB700 very slightly camera left at 1/8 power through an umbrella and bounced off a silver reflector. Bare SB600 camera right at 1/16 power aimed at the wall to compensate for the fall off from the SB700 (I realise I didn't need the SB600 now but wasn't sure when taking the shot so played safe).

Photo 2 [right]: SB700 directly behind me at full power, 85mm zoom and flagged left and right (to contain the light) bounced off a black reflector.
