I love my books. Most of that pile of bound paper has been with me since my early teens and slowly added to over the years. It's not a massive library I'll admit but I tend to read in loops so the same books will be read, re-read and so on and so on until they fall apart. I do have more books but there's only so much room on the table y'know?

They contribute to the way I see the world and therefore have a big hand in the photos I take and why I take them.

So.

God bless Terry Pratchett and his Discworld books for taking our world and universe, relocating it onto the back of four elephants standing on the shell of a giant turtle and gently twisting my world view until I can't take anything seriously anymore.

Hats off to Sue Townsend and Adrian Mole who have taught me that you can be very clever but at the same time not very bright, and that life sucks, but not really.

Three cheers for Rob Grant and Doug Naylor's series of Red Dwarf books, the last 2 of which follow on directly from book 2. But in completely different dimensions and planes of reality.

High five for Nick Hornby and High Fidelity, the book that made me want to own a record shop more than anything (I still do).

Big up to Matt Beaumont and his series of books set in an ad agency - E, The E Before Christmas and E Squared. If you ever wanted to laugh so much you fart and blow snot out your nose at the same time then read these three books. I'm not sure I've actually ever read anything funnier?

And a firm, gentlemanly handshake for George Orwell and his black comedy novel 1984.

And let's have an honourable mention for Lemony Snicket, whose Series of Unfortunate Events I recently finished. Man are those some weird books. Weird, but insanely creative. None of his books are on show so as a tribute I have hidden myself in the shadows, much like the character of Lemony Snicket himself.

They're all swishing around in my brain, probably mating with all the music and film stuff that's in there and giving birth to a lot of the crap I post here.
