36.52 > A series of unfortunate events I: Undead shed

This should have been a lovely, sun-kissed self-portrait, with beautiful bokeh shimmering in the background and me, Daz, beaming proudly in the foreground, basking in the warm natural light of the sun.

I should not have tried to shoot this at the bottom of our garden. I only went in the shed because I heard a bump and thought there was a cat stuck in there.

Suddenly a clammy hand clamped onto my shoulder and spun me round - a hand that belonged to a deranged mutant killer monster shed zombie!

There have been reports of deranged mutant killer monster shed zombies ever since the Olympics left town. I thought that was all hyperbolic nonsense cooked up by the media until I found myself staring at several of them, right in their decomposing faces.

One of them punched me in the goolies and pushed me so I fell halfway out the window, momentarily dazing me. At this point I was still holding the remote trigger for my camera and I must've accidently set it off as I later found this incredible picture on my memory card, which was the only thing left from the destruction that the deranged mutant killer monster shed zombies caused during the fracas and their ensuing escape.

I won't go into details about my own terrifying and daring escape. It involved a pink ribbon, a pair of oven gloves and a hasty incantation I learned in the Scouts for my Scorcerer's (level 1) badge. I did manage to rip the arm off one of them (bottom right of picture gore fans).

I can only assume that the deranged mutant killer monster shed zombies have now moved on to another unwitting homeowner's shed. Be careful out there, they could be anywhere ...

... anywhere there's a shed anyway. They only like sheds. That's why they're called deranged mutant killer monster shed zombies.

Strobist info: I thought about it properly for a change and set up one flash at a time to see how the light fell (a very good tip I learnt from someone, somewhere, I wish I could remember) - there's a bare SB700 camera right at full power, 18mm zoom angled across the front of the shed and then a bare SB600 camera left at 1/4 power, 50mm zoom aimed at the side of the shed. Both fired by CLS.

EXIF Info: Aperture: f8 // Shutter: 1/200 // ISO: 100 // Focal length: 18mm
