35.52 Off white strontium
Derek Zoolander gave the world BLUE STEEL.
I give you ... OFF WHITE STRONTIUM. You might recognise it from almost every self-portrait I've ever posted.
What I was really trying to do was play with ambient light for a change and get away from using the same old settings. I love playing with flashes but sometimes they're just a pain in the ass and occasionally it's fun to change the shutter speed and aperture. And although shooting indoors with no flashes means cranking up the ISO on my creaky old D80, which means unwanted digital noise, I long ago accepted that trade-off. I quite like having that limitation as it goes ... I'll admit I lust after a D7000 but there's so much tech in every camera now that it almost isn't fun anymore.
I'd still take a D7000. I'd just keep hold of the D80 for occasional photo-masochistic purposes.
Yes, I am babbling. I might be back next week with something more interesting. I might not. Something outdoorsy would be nice ...
Non-Strobist info: Large window camera right. Full power. Black reflector hand-held camera left. Also full power. CLS thankfully not involved. Incidentally, does CLS stand for Constantly Loses Sensor? I never had a single misfire with my old D50 that needed triggers - and the triggers were cheap eBay ones. Nor did I have to make sure my flashes were in front of the camera. CLS ... pah. Shame it's so convenient.
EXIF Info: Aperture: f2 // Shutter: 1/60 // ISO: 500 // Focal length: 50mm
