// 52_Ninety-nine // The continuing story of Geek pt. 8: Uh Oh, Abraham, we got a dead one!

In a desperate attempt to restore him to the land of the living Geek's best friend Jeremy, along with Geek's brothers Leslie, Clint and Bilbo, performed a powerful spell to resurrect their fallen comrade. They'd seen it done in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and figured it couldn't be that hard.

The last part of the spell involved leaving the resurrectee overnight before returning to welcome him back to life.

Jeremy, being the smartest of the bunch (which isn't saying much), hired the last living descendant of the famous boogeyman hunter Abraham Van Helsing as muscle in case the spell had gone wrong.

Enter Audrey Van Helsing, professional boogeyman hunteress for hire.

These five waited until nightfall before travelling to Geek's last resting place. If the spell had worked correctly, exactly 24 hours after they were last there Geek would claw his way through the earth, readjust his glasses and return to being a living, breathing soul.

Unfortunately for Geek the four people performing the spell were utter fools and had held the spellbook upside down and read from left to right instead of the other way round.

As Geek's hand broke through the surface earth the brothers cheered ... until he revealed himself further. What emerged from beneath the earth was not Geek ... it was ZOMBIE GEEK.

Jeremy and the brothers didn't hang about to find out what had emerged - they ran away faster than their spindly little legs could carry them, dropping their torch in the process.

Luckily Audrey was on hand to dispatch Zombie Geek back to hell - a few karate kicks and judo chops followed by a beheading did the trick - and as she had more nerve than her companions she managed to get a photo of the very moment Geek (briefly) rose again and his closest friend and kin deserted him one last time.

Strobist info: One SB600 full power through an umbrella camera left, high and aimed down. Second SB600 half power and I'm guessing you know where that one is? Fired by CLS.

Aperture: f10 // Shutter Speed: 15 secs // ISO: 320

View on black - it's what ZOMBIE GEEK would want and this size doesn't do it justice
