// 52_Twenty-six // Trees next to a beach? Weird . . .
We're back from our holidays - we had an awesome time.
Took lots of photos.
Missed a golden chance to try out a new technique for shooting fireworks by turning up late to a bad vantage point with the wrong lens on. And it was raining.
Swam in the outdoor pool in the rain.
Walked lots.
Enjoyed time spent with the kids.
Tore hair out spending time with incredibly badly behaved kids ;-)
Learnt a lot about my camera.
Had serious camera envy in the pancake house walking past someone with a Nikon D2x + at least 400mm lens attached, making my D80 look like a Fisher Price 'My First Camera' camera.
Took this shot, annoyed myself by getting all self-conscious while people walked past the headcase with serious ego problems taking photos of himself (me) which I think comes across in the photo and slightly ruins it.
Got home, checked Flickr and found out that this shot made it to #9 in Explore and sneaked onto the front page . . . uh huh. Quietly am really chuffed but slightly surprised that it's one of my outtake, I'm-bored-so-I'm-posting-something shots that made it!
So . . .
. . . as great as it was, I'm glad to be home. Home is home and there's nothing like it.
Strobist info: SB600 to camera left approx 2ft away on gorillapod at full power with gel to warm things up a bit. Facing up at about 45 degrees. Fired using Nikon CLS.
