I hate winter and being stuck indoors. It makes for a frustrating evening of SP-ing.
I tried a load of ideas that never got anywhere near working, then fell back on the old head/shoulders with 50mm shot.
Today's gimmick is the addition of a colander into the lighting mix. Big woop.
No wonder I look so pissed off - I miss the summer! At least I have a flash this year. This time last year I was struggling to take any kind of SP, stood in my kitchen with the shutter at 1/6 and trying not to breathe too much in case I ended up blurry . . . sometimes I think it was more fun then though. More of a challenge to try and get a half decent photo without the luxury of a flash, or ISO 100, or a lush 50mm.
I think I'm just annoyed that I had the good ideas back then but the photos weren't so good, now I can take a decent photo but I don't have any ideas that excite me.
Time to dig out that SAD light . . . ;-)
Strobist info: SB600 to camera right, snooted and at 1/2 power. Approx 2 ft away at about elbow height and angled up about 45 degrees. To get the shadowy effect I held a colander in front of the flash. Fired using Nikon CLS.
