276/365 # No longer empty and frantic
Since I went a bit mental at the beginning of last week most of the shots I've posted I've been pretty happy with. They haven't all necessarily been amazingly insightful, or a feast for the eyes, but they have been more or less what I envisioned. It's almost like I needed to wig out for a bit to get my mojo working again. Weird.
Unfortunately liking the shots I'm taking does mean spending a lot of time post-processing to get the look I want, meaning that Lydia and the boys don't always get my full attention. That's bad. But it's not long till the end, and the very last thing I want (and one of the reasons I wigged out a week back) is to fade out at the end of this and post lame ass shots till I finish. If I want to look back and view this project as any kind of achievement I need to make sure that, for the most part, I'm putting all my effort into it.
That isn't to say I want to neglect my family, but to give up on my 365 now and just see it through would really, really wind me up forever.
And this shot is, I think, my favourite one (of mine) this week. I don't know why, it's just the feel of the shot I guess. I just like it. I like that my whole face isn't in it, and that I'm on the periphery. I like the lighting.
But most of all, I like the awesome tutorial I used on faking a tilt and shift effect, which you can find on the equally awesome photographywired.com/. Pre-effect the image was a bit flat, so I'm glad I tried the tutorial because I think it adds another dimension to the shot. And it's not often I use Photoshop in a subtle way is it?
Strobist info: SB600 to camera left at 1/4 power bounced off the corner of the room.
