259/365 # Intrigue
I'm really stuck for ideas now, every day it's getting harder to find a shot I like enough to use. It's too easy to say I shouldn't be picky, there's already enough shots in my 365 that I don't like, and from the very start I've always wanted to make sure that each shot I post is something I think is cool.
So there are the odd few shots that I really, really hate, but most of them, even though I say they're crap at the time, I look back at and I'm quite pleased with how they turned out (see yesterday's shot, which today I don't mind, unlike my opinion of it yesterday).
It took so long to get a shot in the can tonight, over an hour of setting up, taking a few shots, then moving it all around and starting again - without having an idea to work with it's tricky getting a shot that's visually interesting. That's what's key for me - there has to be something that (to me at least) captures the imagination. Getting a decent shot everyday is easy, but if I did that I'd feel like I was selling myself short. That's just me. Desperate to be brilliant at something in life, but still looking for what that thing actually is. Ha! Reminds me of a line from The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole - "I'm a genius but at the same time I'm not very clever" - makes me chuckle. I'm not a genius, but sometimes I'm not very clever.
Uh, I think I'm starting to spout random shite, so . . .
. . . so - I went with this one because the shadows intrigued me. I like the fact that you can't see my face. I'm fed up of my face in self-portraits. And I like the light on my shoulder. It interests me. Captures my imagination if you will.
Strobist info: SB600 to camera right at 1/8 power. I tried to bounce the light off Joe and Ben's whiteboard (just out of frame) to get a bit of fill light on the left side of my face. Not sure that worked so well. Fun to try though!
