More slightly suspect Photoshop tonight - I'm trying to step out my comfort zone a bit and try new things, even if it means the final image is a bit rough round the edges. And I've wanted to do a shot like this since early on in my 365 but didn't know how at the time.
Aaaaanyway, there is substance to this shot. It has meaning. Sort of. I'm going to talk about work now, which I promised I'd stop doing so you weren't all bored shitless, but this shot is directly related so I'm gunna. You can zone out now if y'want . . . ;-)
Those of you that've stuck with my 365 since the early days may remember that there's big changes imminent where I work. A big restructure plus the implementation of a new payroll system means that by the end of this year it's doubtful that I'll be doing the same job as I'm doing right now.
Today there was a big meeting outlining the new structure we'll be fitting into, along with the jobs available. Luckily it's unlikely that there's going to be many - if any - job losses, so at least me and everyone else should have a job at the end of it.
We have to post preference for our jobs though, and possibly be interviewed where there are several suitable candidates for one post.
So, interesting times are ahead. This shot is a (possibly lame) attempt to visualize the looking ahead, trying to predict what's coming kind of feeling I've got right now.
I've got plan for post preferencing, and it involves choosing my absolute, couldn't-happen-but-you-never-know-it-might job as my first preference because it's still within the area I work. If I got it that would be me set and I could happily stick in that job for a very long time. But it's a million to one chance for many reasons.
Second choice will be the realistic choice, basically I'll end up at the same level as I am now so nothing lost, nothing gained.
The third choice will be my wildcard, and a bit of a risk - I'll go for a higher grade than I am now but in any area. Another long shot to be honest as I'm still finding my feet covering for my boss but nothing ventured nothing gained.
We'll just have to wait and see eh?
Strobist info: SB600 to camera left at 1/4 power bounced off the ceiling.
