185/365 # Zen on the beach pt. 2

I had planned to get out somewhere else today and take some shots, but in the end we had too much else to do and I had to make a quick dash down to the beach again to get an outdoors shot.

I took my little helper Joe with me - he wasn't meant to be in my 365 today but I liked this shot, and it was the last one I got before my battery died. That was a real shame, although I knew it only a had a few shots left in it there was so many photo opportunities it was unreal.

Me and Joe didn't get to the beach till after 3pm, so the sun was setting behind us and, I can't believe I'm going to say this, Weymouth looked awesome. So many shots went begging after my battery went that I'm definitely going to go back at the same time as soon as I can.

And OK, I know I took a shot on the beach yesterday, but the weather was so good today I didn't want to waste the chance to get outside - this was the only place within walking distance that I could think of where I knew I'd have a good chance of getting a useable photo in the few shots I had left.

I think it turned out quite nice. There were two shots I was deliberating over, one without flash and this one, where I used the flash to fill out the foreground a bit. I think I just about got away with it, but it would've been very cool to have some off camera lights - I think this shot could've been really nice then. Still, you work with what you've got right?

My favourite bit about this shot is the tiny moon in the top right hand corner, I'm so pleased I got that in shot. And it made a nice change to use the kit lens - twice in two days! I'm starting to like it again.

Going back . . .

. . . the gig last night went really well, I think we were really good and while it wasn't really busy, we seemed to have an appreciative crowd in. Amazingly, the weirdest bit of the night wasn't the pissed up hairdressers hijacking our mics and asking if they could sing (to which I replied "I dunno, can you?" - comedy genius eh?) - it was having to play Enter Sandman on a Fender Telecaster. Not right. But Wayne broke a string and had to borrow my Les Paul - still rocked hard though.
