179/365 # WtF

One day back at work and I'm already missing the opportunity to take a photo during daylight hours. And really feeling the limitations of having to shoot with the kitchen wall as my backdrop. I'm thinking about trying to find some black material to hang behind me. And of course I still want to get an off camera flash. But the chances of that happening are remote at best given the amount of cool stuff I've already got coming to me for my birthday and christmas.

Whatever, you work with what you got right? Make the best out of what's there, it's part of the challenge. It's fun.

I'm mystified about this shot. I don't have an explanation for it. It means very little. I could say it's to do with going back to work today, and it represents me hiding from all the work that's collected while I've been away. But then I'd be lying.

The truth is, I was trying to do something a bit more light-hearted. Whether it comes across as light-hearted or not I'm not sure, but that's how I shot it.

Believe it or not this took at least thirty shots to get right. Thirty. At least. And then some textures, a bit of dodging and erasing and a little bit of Lightroom to get it looking like this. It's better than posting nothing right?

Cool stuff that happened today: Lots of you know my good buddy Disco~Stu, and if you do you'll probably also know that he started his new job last Monday.

Now we're both working for the council, and he dropped by my office today to say hello. Me and Stu haven't worked in the same place since our halcyon days behind the bar at the Cork & Bottle, and that was like . . . 10 years ago? Something like that. But it was cool to see him, and he's still rocking up to work with his camera every day so we're off out tomorrow lunchtime to get some photographs.

Other cool stuff . . . I listened to Chinese Democracy on the buses to and fro work. That was weird, it's not Guns n' Roses like you know and love 'em. At times I thought I was listening to a . . *shudders* . . Carlos Santana record. I'll give it some time though, I'm determined to like it, even if it doesn't bear comparison to their earlier albums. Bottom line is: they miss Slash.

I gave Death Magnetic by Metallica another spin too today, and it's starting to grow on me. This is a good thing.

WtF indeed
