154/365 # Me and Mini-Me
I got my boy Joe involved in my 365 again tonight. I had to bribe him though. Offering to let him stay up late didn't work. The chance to see a financial return on his time was also refused. Being allowed to finish the picture of Ben10 he was drawing, that was the clincher.
We tried to do grumpy faces but it wasn't happening so instead we went for wistful staring into the distant sky. Joe nailed it. His expression is total perfection. It's his seventh birthday next Thursday, so the little chap might make another guest appearance very soon. I must do a shot with Ben soon.
I had to do a surprising amount of work on this shot to get it looking right. I had to move me and Joe to the centre of the image because we were over to the right too much. And I had to rotate the angle of my head to improve the composition. I couldn't choose between two different B&W versions of the shot so I also layered one over the other and set the opacity of the top layer to 50% to mix the two versions together.
The reason I'm telling you all this is (a) because I'm really boring and I like babbling and (b) it could've been much worse - I nearly did a shot based on my crappy day at work and you really don't want to hear about that again now, do ya? Much better to get the boy involved and have a shot to look back on that's close to my heart and makes me happy, rather than something where I look more miserable than a Jehovah's Witness on Christmas Day.
