128/365 # Portland rocks
Had a totally awesome day today - me and Disco~Stu had a visit from our great Flickr chum fwumpbungle.
It was great fun to finally meet a Flickr buddy - Stu's managed to build an impressive portfolio of Flickr meets but this is the first one I've done.
It was extra cool for me because Fwump (hereafter known as Paul) was one of the First Four on Flickr whose photos caught my eye. It was cool and kinda intimidating to be hanging out with two people I consider to be awesome photographers, and I didn't take any photos for the first twenty minutes (too scared of looking like a chump).
We took Paul round Weymouth and the harbour, had some chips from Weymouth's best fish and chip shop and ice cream from Weymouth's best ice-cream shop before walking along the seafront and beach.
Then we took a trip to Portland to see the lighthouse etc. It should be pointed out that by the time we were sitting in the pub at the halfway point of our day Paul reckoned he had ten possible 365 shots . . . I had zero. And Stu didn't have to worry about it at all having finished a couple of days ago. Hmph.
So by the time we hit Portland I was getting a bit worried that I'd end up back in my house, taking an SP against a magnolia wall and slapping on a load of textures.
Luckily the lads were very obliging and put up with me arseing around trying to find the right shot. I got a few in the end (none as good as I wanted) but this one won the vote in the end. Only after I'd posted this shot as my 365 though.
I had a great day and it was really cool of Paul to drive as far as he did to come and visit me and Stu - big thanks from both of us mate! And he brought presents with him too - a copy of his latest (I believe? Please correct me if I'm wrong!) album and some moo cards. I feel bad that the only thing I opened my wallet for today was for parking on Portland!
And he put The Holy Bible by the Manic Street Preachers on the stereo for the ride back from Portland to Weymouth - a proper gentleman!
Oh and sorry for getting sand all over the seats in your car mate. Blame my tripod, it was still covered in sand from the shots I took on the beach . . .
Oh, and before I forget: when I got home after our grand day out I got some potentially outstanding news, but I can't say much more about it now - give it a few weeks and a bit of luck and I'll let you know more.
