I'm going to try to post and run tonight - I have a reservation on our sofa booked with Lydia to sit down and watch a film (Anchorman). And I'm running late for my very important date.
Maybe I should try to bullet point what I want to say?
- Sorry about yesterday and all the moaning. I tihnk the reason I was on edge was because of the gig we had last night - I always get really edgy when we have gigs. But thanks to everyone for keeping my spirits up with their comments!
- The gig was pretty shit, we all turned up in bad moods and to be honest we hadn't prepared properly so it was a bit of a shambles at times. Plus it was quite quiet because of the weather and you can't really get into it properly when all you're playing to is the toilet door on the wall opposite you. Such is the glamorous life of a local covers band ha ha!
- Today has been much better. Slightly suffering from lack of sleep now but Joe and Ben have been so well behaved today and we took them to the seafront to watch some of the Motocross on the beach. Shame it was raining really. We got soaked but it was a load of fun and we all enjoyed ourselves. I took the camera but it was raining too much to risk taking it out of its case.
- I took ninety shots today to get an SP, tried a few different ideas out but I was drawn to this shot. I chucked a couple of textures on it and played around with the opacity and fill levels to get the effect I wanted.
Then, because I can't help but over-process my shots sometimes, I thought I'd play around and try to make some rain in Photoshop. And I quite like the overall effect, kind of like I'm staring out the window on a rainy day. If I'd thought about it I could've taken a shot actually looking out the window and this shot might have looked a bit more authentic. So if you don't think it looks real enough to be rain you could always consider it another texture instead.
Never mind. I quite like it for a change. It doesn't mean anything in particular but it does have some kind of latent meaning and/or symbolism to do with my day.
Well, it does to me, but unless you're me you won't get it. Which is a shame. But there you go.
For a look at how you're meant to create rain in Photoshop check out this shot by Stephen Poff - now that's how it's done!
And then this is how I did it - it does look a bit better larger
