104/365 # Reach for the sky

I went out after work today to try and get an outdoors shot while there's still a bit of light in the evenings.

Lydia had taken Joe and Ben to football so the house was empty anyway, and I had this idea to go down to the local rugby club and get some shots on the field.

When I got there people were playing on it so I finished with that idea and just carried on walking.

I ended up in a nature reserve somewhere - never been there before, never likely to find it again! So I got some shots of some naturey crap along the way until I stumbled across these fields full of corn (or wheat . . . some kind of tall vaguely grassy plant).

There was a gap in the corn so I set up and took a load of shots with me in the gap.

I guess the idea has something to do with growing up - back to my original reason for starting my 365, turning thirty etc.

I suppose I feel like when I hit thirty I'll feel . . . obliged to act grown up, be sensible and reliable. All those qualities you normally associate with parents y'know? The ultimate grown ups when you're little.

I wouldn't say I'm not all of the above, I'm certainly not outrageous, or outspoken or anything out of the ordinary, but . . . well . . . no-one really wants to grow up and be sensible and wear sensible trousers and cardigans and say things like "When I was your age . . ." do they?

Except that I already have done all those things . . . except maybe wear sensible trousers. Not counting my work trousers. And in mitigation it's not really a cardigan I wear but I have this cosy Kickers top that I wear at work when I'm cold . . . but I have used the ol' "when I was your age . . ." line on Joe and Ben many times.

I dunno, I'm rambling a bit but I'm just trying to say that there was some reason behind this shot. Other than exposing my belly. Oops.

I might have go back to this place when the evenings get lighter again, there was loads more to explore.
