The curse of the knackered camera battery hit me again today - halfway through trying to get a shot with the Nikon the battery died. I need to get a list together of accessories I'll need when I get my D80, and a spare battery will be top of the list. Along with a shutter remote.
I wasn't too bothered about getting a remote but it occurred to me today that even with auto focus on, if I'm setting up the shot from behind the camera for a self-portrait and hit the shutter the camera's going to focus on the background and not the subject, i.e. me, because I won't be in the shot to focus on. Am I right? I was trying to manually focus tonight by setting up a focus point and then guessing how out of focus that would need to be for my face to be in focus. Didn't work, predictably. Then the battery died.
I fished out the trusty Fuji, I'm so glad Stu's let me keep hold of it for a while, grabbed a lamp and four shots later I had . . . well, four shit shots to be honest. So this one, being the best of a bad bunch, got the Lightroom treatment and predictable textured layers in Photoshop.
And I HATE it. It's just so blah. Just looking at it makes me want to say 'meh'. I had zero good ideas, and the weather's crap so I couldn't even get outside to take a shot - although even then it might have been shit because of the focus issues I mentioned earlier. Seriously, if anyone's got any advice on this subject I'll give you warm, scrummy virtual hugs in return for information.
And sadly, everything I described above was the most exciting thing that happened to me today.
