86/365 # Gig night #2
I've got another gig tonight so I'm posting early.
I tried taking this in my front garden but after one shot I chickened out. Our front garden's too public to be mincing around in front of a camera taking pictures of myself. So I moved to my back garden instead.
The idea was to have a go at playing around with DoF, and trying to get some bokeh goin' on. I don't think it worked very well though so more practise needed. My Chucks were meant to be in focus with the fore/background gradually receding into lovely bokeh goodness. What I actually seem to have is some unlovely-bokeh grass in the foreground of the shot, some slight blur in the background but nothing like what I was going for.
I quite like the shot but I do really need to learn some proper photography techniques to make my non-Photoshopped shots better. My next challenge! Excellent.
For a change I thought about the composition of the shot . . . OK there's a lot of foreground, which you may like or not (I think I do), and I did experiment with a couple of crops but kept coming back to the original.
I thought carefully about where I was positioned, and it took a good ten minutes to get it right. Half the time my knee was blocking my face!
The B&W is just because I didn't like how the colours came out and B&W hides it.
Hopefully I'll be getting my mate's D50 tonight and I'll get to play with that a bit tomorrow. Three cheers for great mates!
Today's music: I'm still listening to the new Bloc Party album Intimacy. I can't listen to anything else at the moment, I've tried. Actually I did have a couple of days this week where I listened to all three of their albums back-to-back . . . I love doing that. One day I listened to all five Deftones albums in one hit at work . . . great days.
