84/365 # A tree and me
First of all, thanks to everyone for their messages yesterday - it made me feel much better. I love cheap ass Flickr therapy.
I went out tonight with Disco~Stu, we took a walk through the park near my house before taking a stroll down the seafront. Sadly the lighter evenings are becoming steadily darker which will put an end to our evenings out temporarily, but we're planning on using the dark evenings to do some slow shutter night-time shots and just going round each other's houses and shooting indoors until next spring/summer. I reckon we've still got a few more weeks of outdoor action left though, and I had a great offer from another mate tonight - in exchange for letting his band borrow my amp he's going to lend me his Nikon D50 until I get my D80!
This is great news for me as it'll give me a chance to get used to using an SLR and try out some cool long exposure shots and all manner of other techniques. I should get my hands on it Saturday night (at our next gig) so hopefully Lydia will be nice and let me play with the D50 on Sunday - Stu's kindly letting me hold on to the Fuji though in case I can't get to grips with the D50 straight away.
This shot was taken early on while we still had some light in the park near my house - Stu set up a shot using a nearby tree and I had this idea to get a shot where it looked like I was holding up a tree - I didn't quite get what I was after, and I had to get Lydia to choose which shot to use for my 365. So this got the nod because "I look cuter in this one". Ahem. You can see an outtake here. Oh and I got the chance to debut my new Manic Street Preachers t-shirt - it's identical to my red 'Working Class Hero' one but this one's blue!
Despite the early loss of light me and Stu still had loads of fun with a slow shutter on the beach - hopefully Stu will upload a couple because they looked like they came out cool. And he got some totally cool bokeh-ed shots of twinkly lights and some awesome light painting style stuff too.
That's about it really, work was quite fun today, we had a couple of meetings to go over the specs for the three upcoming developments to our payroll system . . . it may not sound fun but I assure you it was the height of interestingness! I did nearly fall asleep in one of them though . . . and I got caught doodling on my pad when I should probably have been taking notes. In my defence I drew a pretty good Garfield.
It's getting late so I'd better wrap this up for the night, tomorrow should finally feature the special guest I mentioned on Tuesday . . . be warned it's not going to be a Photoshop masterpiece or anything but it'll mean a lot to me so I'm really looking forward to it.
