80/365 # Standing on the edge of forever

Heh heh, the title's deliberately cheesy - it just seemed apt given the view. More about today in a minute - I got a gig to analyse!

Yeah, so last night we finally got to our first gig since . . . March ? . . with our current bass player. He went travelling for three months to Australia so my brother filled in during his absence to cover the gigs we'd already booked.

We've been learning new songs and got six new ones in the set last night and we were really keen to blow people away. It went well, not our best (in my opinion) but certainly a good one and we all enjoyed it loads. It was really busy and hot, just like it should be, and bar a couple of slip-ups we rattled through everything pretty well.

Jon (our singer, aka Jons Addicted) was giving a table of suspiciously underage-looking kids a hammering all night, all harmless banter really, I think he was taking out his frustration because Spurs lost 1-2 to Sunderland and bless him, he took it hard! He even managed to change the lyrics of a line in Vertigo and take the piss mid-song! I had to snigger at that, he's very good at inventing ad hoc lyric changes to poke fun at people. Usually other members of the band ha ha!

So it was a good gig, and we've got another one next weekend - more cash for the DSLR fund. I'm more or less settled on getting a NIkon D80, mostly because I've seen one in action going out with Disco~Stu and we can swap lenses and other bits of kit (like off camera flashes, oh yes) if me and Stu are using the same gear. I'm hoping that the price drops though as it ain't cheap! The gig money from now until the end of the year should offset some of the expensiveness.

OK, that's enough about yesterday. Today we went to Portland Bill for a birthday party one of Ben's buddies was having. I sneaked off halfway through and found a suitable clifftop to shoot on. There was one other shot I got that I liked but I couldn't summon up a grin and it ended up looking like I was really pissed off, so this shot got the nod.

No Photoshop today, I don't think it needed it so I stayed away. As much as I love using textures and Photoshop in general it made a refreshing change to get the photos off my camera, fiddle them in Lightroom a bit and be done with it. The processing is a Lightroom preset with just a few adjustments. It looks like I could do with some extra tan on the top of my arms eh?

And hey - finally I've got my Radiohead t-shirt in a 365! About time too, I love this shirt. It's made from recycled plastic, there's a big bit of blurb about it on the inside of the shirt. Eco-friendly fashion - it's the future.

Looks better smaller but I'm a creature of habit so here's the bigger version
