30/365 # How to disappear completely
Tried something a little different today - nothing big, hard or clever but it was much fun to take a small step away from the default and do something a bit unusual.
It's been a while since I used Photoshop for anything bar a bit of layering as I prefer to process my shots in Lightroom now I've got it. So today I revisited Photoshop and had fun pulling this shot apart!
It's been in my mind for a while to do an 'invisible body' shot, since I saw this shot by Mr Puma - go check it out, it's bloody brilliant! Also, this shot by Nerboo which reminded me I wanted to try this idea out.
I did try to go totally invisible but it just didn't work - you really need a hat or something so you have a reference point for where the head would be so it just looked a bit crap.
Luckily I'd prepared for this situation and copied all my limbs and face to a new layer, meaning I could play with the opacity to bring them back into the shot but transparent. And that worked much better.
Processed in Lightroom using my O'Donnelled preset and then back in Photoshop to smooth out the sky that had become very pixellated and noisy because of the processing. You can't really see the detail too well at this size but you can see it big on black if you follow the link below.
I wish, I wish, I wish that I had the balls to go further than my own back yard to take shots, it'd be so cool as there are a few locations nearby that would've suited this shot much more. I'm limiting myself and that bugs me - but then so does going outside the sanctuary of my home to take self-portraits! It's a vicious circle that I must force myself out of.
We're off to Lyme Regis soon to see our friends (it's their daughter's 1st birthday) and I owe Lydia a night off me staring at a computer for hours so I'm posting early today.
Additional: Oops. Got back from Lyme, put the kids to bed and accidently ended up surfing the net all night checkin' out Photoshop tutorials . . .
It looks a bit better like this
