29/365 # Nature's barcode

My promise to myself to learn new things will have to wait a day or two – I ended up with a shot which really appealed to me in the course of trying something new that wasn’t working. Ah well, I’ve got . . . er . . . 336 more chances to learn something new so I don’t feel bad.

I was trying to do some blamming – check out this pic by Nicholas O’Donnell if you’ve never seen blamming, it’s pretty cool. Thing is I know I wasn’t doing it right, I was setting the shutter speed to about 1/5th of a second and moved my head backwards (or forwards, I tried it loads of times) to try and get that “Innerspace” effect. It’s fair to say it didn’t work, not even close, but I’ll keep persevering . . . I’m wondering what would happen if I combined ghetto lighting with blamming actually – it could be pretty funky!

So yeah, the blamming shots weren’t working out and I was looking for another idea. I haven’t taken a closeup/macro shot for ages and I happened to be looking at my hands at the time, as you do, and I thought it’d be cool to take a close up of my finger as it features something unique to you: your fingerprints! Surely over the course of 365 days everyone’s going to take a photo of their fingerprints?

Just been out in the garden and there was a frog just sitting there enjoying the rain!

Now where was I . . . oh yeah, fingerprints. I would’ve liked the detail to have been a bit sharper but it’s not too bad. I played around with a few treatments and on balance this was my preference.

Um, there’s not much more to say really . . . I’m going to persevere with my blamming efforts and hopefully I’ll get one decent enough to use one day.

I’m off now to see what people came up with for their FDF related 365s!

Oh and happy Independence Day to all youse American dudes! Hope you have (or have had? Not sure about the time difference) a great day.

Breaking with tradition, you can view this shot on white!
