23/365 # Levitation's what you need
Went to visit friends today, we went out to their daughter’s school’s summer fair then spent the rest of the day lazing in the sun – it was a great way to spend a hot summer day! Oh and I got a haircut as well – exciting stuff eh?
And it was sooooo good to lie in bed when I woke up and not have to get up. Still bushed from the Radiohead gig on Tuesday – I’m getting old! God bless my missus for letting me rot in my pit till half nine this morning.
I should probably apologise for a couple of things:
(a) Using this bit of my back garden again - it's the only bit that doesn't look
totally naff or have cat shit buried deep in the undergrowth! I really wanted to do this
in a big park with loads of space but there's nowhere nearby like that. I was also
going to do like a Karate Kid flying crane kick pose but from where I was perched
everyone could see me from the road and I felt totally self-conscious so I chickened
out and posed like this.
(b) Once you've read the paragraph below you'll find this is an homage to another shot -
I feel kinda bad about the lack of originality. But my feeling is that all art imitates art:
is there anything much you could call truly original these days? So all you can do is
put your own spin on it and hope it strikes a chord with people. With all that said I'm
happy with the shot.
Today’s 365 makes a big nod to this brilliant shot by Mr Puma. This guy is really talented, even the shots he posts that he doesn’t like are excellent and his photostream is well worth checking out.
I’m really pleased how this came out, and how easy it was to do it! I messed up cloning out the stool I was standing on though and it kinda shows but never mind. What happened was, I was trying to clone out this black line and no matter what I did it wouldn’t disappear. After clicking on it about fifty times I realised the black line was on the layer above the one I was working on and of course would never disappear! D’oh! I fixed that problem pretty quick but all that clicking kinda messed up the ground directly underneath me in the shot. Hopefully you can’t see it unless you look closely. More lessons learned . . .
NOTE: Cheers Starpixie, the links should be workin' just fine now!
