25> Inside out
It may not look like much, this photo, and you may decide after everything I say that it is, in essence, just somebody standing in their shed, staring moodily through the glass. And also, while I'm in there, wouldn't my time be better spent tidying up a bit?
But it means a lot more than that. To me at least.
This is an idea I've had rattling around my brain for a few weeks. I was watching 24 and there was a scene where there was a guy standing in the background, looking through a window while something happened in the foreground and I was drawn to that bit more than the actual action.
It made me think about being on the outside looking in, about being stuck in a situation that you can't influence. You can see what's going on, you can have an opinion on how to fix it - you might know how to fix it - but you have no control over what's going on.
It made me think about the personal, internal battles we have everyday as the different sides of our personalities battle for supremecy. Sometimes the little voice inside your head telling you to exercise, eat right and Be Positive is at the helm. Sometimes it's trapped in the brig and someone else is driving the boat.
And without wanting to get too personal, but wanting to use a geeky analogy, my inner Captain Kirk has been in the brig for a good few weeks now while Khan's been at the wheel.
And that's what this is all about.
Of course, it is also a picture of a man, standing in a shed that needs a really good clean.
Strobist info: SB600, camera left with snoot, full power through an umbrella. Fired by CLS.
