We were hiking up the trail by the river, and from the water this rock spire went up probably 50 to 100 feet, and there was this tree on top of it. From the side where I was, it only stuck up maybe 15 feet, then the other side is a cliff that goes down to the water. The tree had broken away the rock with its roots, and all the roots were exposed. It made for a pretty cool picture. Went back early one morning to get the picture. Got there when it was pitch black out. Hiked up to the tree. On the way there, numerous times I saw eyes looking at me in the dark, and I'd shine a light and it was always a deer. When I got to the tree, there was a pair of eyes looking at me. They blinked a few times then went away. It was completely silent. When the sun came up, I could see that where the eyes were it was solid rock. It couldn't have been a deer or I'd have heard their hooves. In the visitors center there was a sign to watch out for mountain lions. Ever since I've always wondered if that's what it was.
