Koshmaar the Nightmare Cordyceps

It smells of rust.

"When is a dream? Does it happen in time, or is it a manifestation of lived experience? A vision or a desire for the future? A last moment before your mind awakens? Or is it the last moment your mind functions? A moment that exists in limbo, infinite and yet absent. A transitional space between reality and absence. Maybe my mind is just arguing with itself.

Do I exist in the dream or does the dream exist in me? Does it happen to me? Am I the dream? Can it be a collective experience? Do two beings have the capability of sharing a dream?

Can my dream be someone else's nightmare?

Will I dream again?"

As the mask slowly slips from his head, disappearing into a swirling, shapeless mass of limbs, Onua ponders the finite nature of reality, compared to the terrifying boundlessness of the mind. His mind races in place, standing still at the speed of light. A last moment of his

encounter with the dream cordyceps parasite, Koshmaar.

He awakes.

Blind from the darkness, deaf from the silence. He knows what he must do; find a cure.

"I will not be left to rust alone!", he bellows as he charges into the bright world, the serene wilderness outside of the cave.
