~ Sanctuary of the Still Lake ~
“When the world burns with noise and sorrow, the old magic stirs—calling the quiet-hearted home to where the wild things guard peace, and even the stars dare to rest.”
They say deep in the forest, where the mist clings like silk to the trees, there lies a Glen untouched by time.
No map can lead you there. You arrive only when the forest wills it—when your heart aches with a sorrow too gentle for the world, and your footsteps carry the rhythm of longing.
It was on such a night that Elowen stumbled into the Glen, her lantern flickering low, her past left scattered like petals behind her. She had not meant to leave the path, but something had called to her—soft as a lullaby, woven with wind and water.
The Glen welcomed her not with sound, but with stillness. Fairy lights bloomed from the earth, golden and alive. The trees whispered secrets in a tongue the soul remembers. And the lake... oh, the lake. It glowed with a light not of this world, like the moon itself had fallen and melted into its depths.
She approached the cabin, worn but warm, its door ajar as if it had been waiting only for her. Inside, there was no dust, no decay—only time folded gently like a quilt.
Elowen did not speak. She knew, somehow, that to speak here was to wake old spells.
That night, the fairies came. They danced along the moss, wove glimmers through her hair, and hummed to the stars. They did not fear her. They knew her heart—quiet, broken, full of truth.
Years passed in the world beyond, but in the Glen, Elowen remained unchanged. She became its Watcher, its Keeper. The lake whispered its memories to her, and she listened. She kept the wishes safe, the secrets whole.
Some say if you find the Glen and see her by the shore, she will offer you a choice: stay and forget all sorrow—or leave, and carry one truth with you forever.
But only those pure of heart may find the Glen… and even fewer may leave it.
