lever de soleil

lever de soleil dans le brouillard

- The Mogueriec Lighthouse was born in July 1876 from a collaboration between the engineer Gustave Eiffel and the industrialist Louis Sautter and Sautter & Lemonnier factories at 25 Avenue de Suffren in Paris

A curious coincidence: a few meters away, at the same time, in the Ateliers Monduit, the front was being put the finishing touches the most famous arm in the world, that of the Statue of Liberty, whose torch would soon set the Atlantic ablaze... From New York to Honfleur, Bartholdi's torch and the Sautter's turret, two freedom-loving candles...

- It was mounted for the first time on the Colline de Chaillot in the courtyard of the Lighthouse Service, then equipped with its lantern...

- He took part in the fabulous maritime signalling epic of the 19thTh century...

It went down the Seine by boat and then it was delicately placed in August 1876 on the West Pier of the Port of Honfleur at the end of pharaonic work...

- The very young Erik Satie, a fabulous composer and pianist who will enchant us a few years later late of his "Gymnopédies", "Gnosiennes" and other "Sarabandes" came to play marbles and hoop at his feet...

- It was painted by Georges Seurat, the master of pointillism, but also by Félix Valotton, Albert Marquet , Raoul Dufy , Paul Signac , Abel Bertram , Paul-Elie Gernez , Henri Liénard de Saint-Delis, Robert Lavoine , André Hambourg , Fernand Herbo...

- It was smeared black during the Second World War and bombed in June 1940... Fortunately only the timber pier was affected... It was a close call!

- It was dismantled in August 1948, moved and transported to Le Havre, while the Port of Honfleur was undergoing new mutations...

In the second half of the 20thTh century, the Port of Moguériec in Sibiril (29) rose to the rank of "first port lobster boat of France". All he needed was a proud little lantern. The Moguériec Lighthouse therefore waited patiently for the prodigious port developments of Moguériec to be completed in 1960 to reappear after endless Local Nautical Commissions, requests for various subsidies, deliberations of the Municipal Council of Moguériec. Sibiril, engineers' reports, plans and sketches, fishermen's petitions...

- It was partly financed by the fishermen of Moguériec by the implementation of a tax on the value of fish disembarked...

- It entered the Port of Moguériec aboard the buoy tender "Georges de Joly" at the spring of 1960.

Since then, he has been the "idol of the swells" of all lovers of Moguériec!
