Jump!

As much as I try to keep content interesting and unique, living in the California Central Valley makes that pretty tricky at times. My life doesn't always give me the chance to shoot something unique, but when it does, best believe you'll see me take it! This is definitely the case here with this photo at Casa Loma, located within the confines of Donner Pass.

SPMW 4032 is seen leading its siblings around the S-curve at Casa Loma. It is en route to Truckee in preparation for the Winter season. 4032 is a former SP Jordan Spreader built in the 1960s, and still wears "SPMW" like it did back then. Winter starts in 16 days, but UP sure isn't waiting, and potential snowstorms aren't either. A decent-sized storm was forecast to ensue within a day or two, convincing UP that it was a good time to send them up the pass.

As for the shot, I had to jump (as the title says) out of my friend's car with hardly 5 seconds to spare. Safe to say I got lucky with this one!
