Old Friends Reunited

The air was tense around Freedo Borr. This negotiation meant everything to the humanitarian effort that he and his fellow colleagues were working on building for the suffering people in the city of Akko.

“Take a deep breath,” he muttered to himself as the Rodian’s lungs expanded with air. “Tarnic Vel has been your friend for many years. He should surely be able to provide the necessary financial backing to kickstart the mission here in the city.”

Somewhat more relaxed now, his mind couldn’t help but gravitate to the rumors he had heard about Tarnic’s son, Tarlar. On the surface, Tarlar appeared to be following in the footsteps of his father’s philanthropic efforts, but some whispered that he was simply waiting to inherit his aging father’s fortune to pursue more sinister endeavors.

A sense of worry washed over him. What was the validity of these rumors? He didn’t want to believe them, but the feeling in his gut told him they were true.

There was no time to spiral deeper into doubt.

“Hello, old friend,” he heard in a familiar voice.
