curtain shutter measure

This screen shows the result of a dozen tests run on this Olympus OM2 body. This camera was known to have a slow shutter.

The tests were run in a manual mode with the shutter set to 1/125th. The data on the screen shows it averages 1/96th of a second and the waveform of the light as it passes the two sensors is displayed. The wave form shows nothing wrong with the curtains, no bounce or drag.

The curtain times are displayed at the bottom, it can be seen that the overall curtain time is about 13 milliseconds. The curtain time difference between one edge of the film plane and the other is pretty consistent, showing about a 6% difference.

Other than this shutter being painfully slow, the curtains are traveling linearly. The measured shutter speed at 1/1000 was only about 1/600th. Time for service!
