Eli Wheel
Jacksonville, Il is the home of the Eli bridge company, makers of Ferris wheels since 1903. After seeing the Giant Ferris wheel at the Columbian exposition of 1893, owner W.E. Sullivan decided to start making his own wheels. He never made another bridge.
This one is the 17th wheel that Eli made, was built in 1907 and is still in use on Sundays during the summer. Over 1400 wheels have been built since then. Eli bridge Co is the largest maker of portable Ferris type wheels in the world, and put little Jacksonville, IL on the map.
Shot with Argoflex Seventy Five on Ilford FP4. Developed in D76 for 11minutes. Had a major screw up during development.... I only put in 2/3 the proper amount of developer in the tank.
Needless to say, there was some serious contrast issues. All of these shots were fixed up in Photoshop as best as I could.
That's why on some of these shots the sky is so messed up, as I had to re-create a sky. Oh well, live and learn.
