Mission 8.1, Couriers of cruelty

The journey to the surface was short, and we were soon unloaded from the shuttle and met by the thick air of Gamor. We trudged forward, wading through the muddy waters of the marshes. Communication between the teams was kept to a minimum. However, the occasional curses of a teammate who had come across something particularly disgusting were heard clearly through the earpieces. After almost an hour of walking, we reached the longed-for 'Point Charlie,' which was nothing more than a little mound of mud, slightly drier than the surrounding terrain and hidden by tall bushes and vines. There, the boys were able to reorganize their equipment and check their weapons. We went over the action plan again. Unfortunately (or fortunately), at that moment the sun rose, beginning the six hours of daylight. I decided to postpone the raid until darkness fell, limiting myself to sending Ash and Bryce on reconnaissance. We bid farewell to our beloved muddy mass as soon as the sun began to disappear. We moved stealthily through the dense vegetation, with weapons drawn. As soon as we reached the first building, we stopped and synchronized our holomap with our position. We would be passing through a gigantic condominium complex, just below a busy market, with an opening right in front of our objective. I would take command of Vanar, leading the breach, while Shil and Ash would mingle with the crowd to take out the lookouts. 7 hours after landing from the shuttle, we began moving toward the condominium. First, I communicated to the other teams: "Vanar to Republic forces, we are about to engage in sector 9-3... over." I then signaled to my squad the start of the raid. We walked cautiously along the walls; weapons aimed at every corner or window. There wasn't a single corner not covered by a DC-15. Through the green of the macro-binoculars, the city appeared even more distorted and senseless than it already was, structures stacked on top of each other intertwined with vegetation; the lights of the markets making the view of the busiest streets blinding, though in ours there wasn’t a single streetlamp. The first communication from our guardian angels, wandering through the crowd in their cloaks, arrived as soon as we reached a service entrance of our building. It was Shil confirming the first target down. Our operation had gone into full swing without us seeing a single enemy. We entered shortly after, and as soon as we did, we had the chance to join the party. We took it brilliantly, taking down two Zygerrians in the hallway. We only encountered a couple of other enemies before we found ourselves in front of our exit. The door opened with a hiss, revealing an even more bleak and neglected environment. We moved in total synchrony, and as soon as we turned the corner, we were rewarded by a guard totally bewildered by our sight. It fell after a faint blue shimmer from the tip of my dc-17m. We found ourselves in front of a panicked Zygerrian, who trudged towards his CR2. I had pulled him up and was pulling him against the wall of the shed; when Shil burst into the radio with solemn words: "Here is Vanar 2; lookouts eliminated, but there is a convoy of 3 speeders approaching your position" A tremor struck me. I immediately looked at the Zygerrian and, after a quick risk-benefit evaluation of having a prisoner, I killed him with a blow to the back of the head. I communicated with gestures to return to the condominium; We disappeared behind the doors just in time. We agreed to meet with the rest of Shil and Ash at the point where we had stopped setting up the holo-map, now called 'Bravo Point.' We met there shortly after; then we returned to our beloved mud island to reorganize and continue the mission.
